Civil versus Military details guide 16H 59   Military bikes were more civilian in 1936. The change made for 1937 was the introduction of the separate footrest tubes/engine plates. 1936 bikes still used the "civilian" version with welded on footrest tubes. (Source: Norton assembly books).
Trade page 59   Trade page added, trial period.

I am no trader and do not want to be. Visitors however say they think it is a good idea to do, to sell their surplus or find wanted bits and pieces.
Its up to you visitors to make it work. I will be required to note down parts and give the visitor e-mail on the website. I do not intend to be a go between, and it is up to the sellers/buyers to come together. So if you have anything, drop me a line.

Restoration 59   Page edited, bikes manufacturing date changed from 1940 to a more likely 1941.

Index 58 a and b 3-05-'08 Website moved to a new domain name, issue 58a is the website, 58b is the remaining site on the Home.Tiscali.nl  domain. This will remain in the air for some time to redirect old bookmarks by telling where to go. I cannot place a direct link in the index page as that would cause Google to "see" the site as a portal and thus skipping the site altogether when indexing. For this reason the contents page is still also part of the old website domain and will directly link to the new domain.
When entering the contents through the tiscali domain, you will redirect to the new domain.

Many thanks to Timothy Walker (1935) and Roger Deadman (1937).  Norton model year explained as going from September to next year September and not per Jan 1st! explaining why modifications for e.g. 1938 were already applied before the end of 1937. Actual switch apparently used on the 16H was screwed to the handlebar with 2 3BA screws on flanges, and not with clamps as shown. Shown version may have been used for replacement. Lucas partslist states shown version to have been used between 1937 upto 1954. Validity of this statement is in doubt.
There is pictorial proof of the directly screw fixed version on 1939/1940 bikes.
